legalacidity's musings ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- March Madness...It's...Getting Closer! Well, heeeere we go. It's about to be my absolute favorite sports time of year: March Madness!! I'll be in Atlanta for the Sweet Sixteen/Elite Eight games, and I cannot wait to get there. This will be my ninth tournament to have attended and I'm hoping to have more incredible stories to tell than, say, Joe Paterno leading basketball cheers at the Philips Center (more on that next week). In a sense, it's already started: Duke, Texas & Memphis all knocked off by conference foes who were clawing to stay in the bubble. One particularly hilarious photograph from the Texas/Texas A&M game: New Defensive Strategy Fails in First Attempt Yikes! Somehow, I think that if he could close quicker, then he may have formulated a sound defensive strategy. Who among you could knock down shots if you knew THAT was flying at you?? One thing I have noticed lately is sort of an anti-anti-Duke backlash, mostly from, you guessed it, ESPN. Several articles have been posted recently that highlight the fact that Duke isn't all that bad. Check out one of them here: There's been others, too--not just the ESPN love machine. For example, a couple of weeks ago, after Duke beat North Carolina, someone over at Truth About Duke gave Redick props, saying that even though he hated Duke, he had to respect J.J. Good stuff. Hopefully Duke can find their rhythm and stop playing like a team that doesn't seem to care about winning. And finally, one of the funniest things I've seen in a while: Hilarious. I wish we could get guys like this in the NCAA doing basketball games.
